Both of my readers will know that I have mixed opinions about Microsoft. Sometimes I think that they are the evil empire and are the software equivalent of Atilla the Hun or Ghengis Khan; other times I have respect for what they have done in terms of technology and dealing with non homogenius computers running their operating system and software.
However when I caught wind of the Browser for the Better campaign, I had to give them props and share the link. Doing something as simple as downloading a software package and installing it seems to me to be the least I can do to help those who are less fortunate. I was even able to download it on my Mac.
The basic premise is that for every download of Internet Explorer 8, from the http://browserforthebetter.com/ site, Microsoft will donate eight (8) meals to Feeding America.
Time to go download it on other machines as well…
For the sake of the meals, I downloaded the Windows Vista-64 bit version.
To my MacPro.
Then I moved through the house, downloading copies to the iMac, Macbook Pro, Macbook (white) and G5. 40 meals in less than five minutes.
Then “Move to Trash”, “Empty Trash”. The most positive Microsoft experience I’ve had in a while.
Kewl. I downloaded and did some good. I took over some work machines to do some good also
