After the Treadmill

I attempted to capture the lines that I saw going on here, but it was not as strong as seeing it in person. I think it was a combination of too shallow of a depth of field so the lines in the floor don’t read coupled with the lack of shadow on the red cover. [more]

Bottle of White

This image was to compliment the red wine shot I took previously. I also wanted to see if I could recreate the shot I took. The bounce of the light is a little different however the overall image is fairly close. Spinning Arms

A closeup of a piece of kinetic sculpture in my house. I got the focus point off a little from where I wanted it. I was trying to get it onto the darker piece of wood on the front of the piece. I did purposely not overly diffuse the lighting as I wanted shadows to [more]

The Stairs of Illusion

A little fun trying to create an optical illusion. A picture of stairs that connect the main floor to the basement. Are they going up or are they going down? Date Taken: 2012-01-28 22:00:31 Camera: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi Exposure Time: 0.005s (1/200) Aperture: f/5.6 ISO: 200 Focal Length: 43mm (68.8mm in 35mm) Date [more]

Comforts of Home

The reflection of the arm in the washer caught my eye. The image does not have the reflectiveness I was hoping to capture. I am going to have to think about how to improve it. A typical night of travel

Capturing the glamour of travel is not easy. This is my attempt at showing how I spent my night while traveling for business. Still not quite the look I am going for. Needed more light I think. Basic Date Modified 2012-01-30 21:33:41 Date Taken 2012-01-26 22:03:38 Camera Canon PowerShot SD950 IS Exposure Time 0.01s (1/100) [more]

Temptation comes in a brown bag

I wanted to catch a still life of what my life some times turns into another hotel room, and trying to eat healthy on the road. I can say that the Cookie did not get eaten by me. I wanted to get some depth to the bag so I left the flash bounced but undiffused [more]

MMMM Peanut Butter

I wanted to try to get even light while still getting highlights on the Peanut Butter. I got close but not quite it. Perhaps a better diffuser on the flash would have helped. Basic Date Modified 2012-01-24 22:20:58 Date Taken 2012-01-24 20:32:27 Camera Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi Exposure Time 0.005s (1/200) Aperture f/5.6 ISO [more]

Bounce Time

I was experimenting with bounce flashes and making the light soft and diffuse. I liked how the wall color I chose to bounce off of, I was happy with the temperature and quality of the light. It provided enough contrast to be warm while the shadows were still defined. Basic Date Modified 2012-01-23 22:37:57 Date [more]

The Body Left Behind

This shot was an experiment in the use of flash and shutter timing to make the rest of the room disappear. The lights were on, but not appearing so in the picture as you can see. Also in case you ever wondered, this is the rest of Zombie. He just hangs out at home while [more]
