Simpsons Straight out of Springfield

This picture of Simpsons chess pieces is straight out of camera. I thought about fixing a few things ranging from Maggie’s eye but was pretty happy with the over all image. There are a few little things I would have liked to change. I took the picture too fast so they are not all looking [more]

Rise to the Light

I am still learning some of the things that I can do with the seamless poster paper and a flash.

Once again you can see past the side of the paper to the paneling which to some degree helps to define the edges of the glass. I am trying to figure how to get better [more]

More Marbles

I am still experimenting with the marbles and trying to get the right look. I am not sure that this is it yet either, but moving the flash to a soft box on the camera left side definitely helped.

I also changed the aperture to allow for more of the marbles to be in focus. Realistically [more]

Found my Marbles

I wanted to start experimenting to indirect flash bounces and seamless backgrounds. So that I would not eat my props, I picked up 300 marbles instead of jelly beans. I think the exposure could have been more even as you can see the flash reflections, but I thought that looked nicer than some of the [more]

Chips

I purchased some new camera tools and wanted to try them out. So I took this picture of chips to get an idea of how well it worked. The fact I could see individual salt rocks was a pleasant surprise. Grid

I was experimenting with lighting and shadows using a grid on top of a speaker. I did not get as pronounced shadows as I wanted but I still think it is fairly intriguing of an image. Date Taken: 2012-02-17 22:34:17 Camera: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi Exposure Time: 0.005s (1/200) Aperture: f/5.6 ISO: 200 Focal [more]

Shades of Jelly Beans

There are three colors of Jelly beans here in the platter. They are various shades of Red, Dark Red, and Brown. The colors are hard to distinguish in person, and the colors are correct in this image with how close they are.

I know that the platter is clipped, but it is a silver colored platter [more]

Nuts

I liked the shape and textures of the nuts in the jar. I thought about denoising the image but I like the texture it added overall so I left it in. Date Taken: 2012-02-15 19:33:53 Camera: Canon PowerShot SD950 IS Exposure Time: 0.0666s (1/15) Aperture: f/2.8 ISO: 800 Focal Length: 7.7mm Date Modified: 2012-02-16 18:09:03 [more]

Denoise

I captured this image under the Chicago O’Hare jetway while walking from Terminal C to F. It was amazing how empty the airport was at that time of night. I am still surprised that for 9PM the airport was that empty. Date Taken: 2012-02-14 20:51:58 Camera: Canon PowerShot SD950 IS Exposure Time: 0.05s (1/20) Aperture: [more]

Zombie shows off a microwave with outlets

Sometimes I just want to capture something unique I see. In this case it was the microwave with the outlets on the front of it. I should have checked the preview better as I ended up having to crop it. Date Taken: 2012-02-13 21:24:25 Camera: Canon PowerShot SD950 IS Exposure Time: 0.0166s (1/60) Aperture: f/2.8 [more]
