Make Time to Take Pictures

This week I am traveling for work again, but I am going to keep the picture thread going. However there will be delays at times in terms of posting and providing all the documentation. Today’s picture was snapped in O’hare and it is a unique view of a dinosaur skeleton

Friday the 13th

Just q quick shot while I am packing.

Gretzky Shot Revisited

After taking a Gretzky Shot on the 11th of the data rack, I wanted to clean it up a little. Not change it dramatically but compensate for what I was able to accomplish in camera and in the room. I did not want to change it dramatically. I tweaked the horizon, the crop, the exposure, [more]

Self Portrait

I was not sure what to take a picture of today, and that is part of the challenge. Not just take a snapshot, but a picture doing something with purpose and intent. I thought I don’t have a recent self portrait. I thought about it and decided I did not want the typical self portrait [more]

The Gretzky Shot

Silver Balls

I wanted to experiment with the scale of objects and how they are presented. I have a set of Think Geek Bucky Balls that I thought would make an interesting target. We had made a hexagon out of them and I was interested if I could make them seem large. I zoomed in as close [more]

Waxy Bride and Groom

After the experiment with depth of field yesterday, I decided to try on something different. A candle set on our half wall. This time I made sure that the focus points were hitting the candle holders. I was able to get the background to be much less in focus which is good. I did however [more]

Clear Bottles

I was hosting a vodka tasting night, no one showed up, and I wanted a “before” shot. I set up this shot with a bounce off the ceiling to avoid getting reflections off the glass. I wanted a short depth of field so that the concentration would be on the bottles, that was unsuccesful. I [more]

Lens Flare

I wanted to capture the warm glow of a night light. I got most of what I wanted but have the lens flare to deal with. This is straight out of camera, no processing other than RAW to JPG.  I know that part of this is do to being on axis with the bulb and [more]
