People Suck

I think that people suck. I do not think that persons suck, just that people in general are very self centered and do not think of anyone but themselves. I know that this statement is odd coming back from a vacation, as typically that is when you think most people get more relaxed, and I did. It was also a chance for me to people watch and think about how people interact with each other. My friends don’t suck, it is people in general that suck. I do think the situation is curable – we just have to think about others and how we might impact them.

Another blog post written at 32,000 feet as that is when the issue hit me. I have various electronic devices as my dedicated reader knows. I have previously talked about various data access connection challenges. This new challenge is not one of my own doing. It is a poor user experience or use case definition. This problem was illustrated by Amazon and their Kindle applications, but it does not apply to just them. This challenge happens to many applications beyond this example.

What would you make a book of?

Currently SmugMug is running a contest asking what you would make a book of. It got me thinking that is an interesting question. I had lots of ideas floating around about what to make. I thought about some of the previously thought of ideas such as a picture a day or a 365 project. There [more]

As I was returning from a trip, I was surprised to find that my checked luggage weighed in at 58.2 pounds. When I was unpacking, I weighed everything as I removed it. To easily tally heavier things that was measured in pounds and things in ounces, I converted everything to ounces for the calculations. It [more]

I know I have been not posting a whole bunch recently, mainly cause I have been fairly busy with work. Pretty sure given the current state of the economy, that is a pretty good thing. This post will probably be a winding one with lots of little thoughts in it. I am writing it while [more]

So in a previous post I commented on how I was not sure that Electronic Books might not be perfect. Well Amazon did something that I had not thought of: they took back a purchase. Basically they deleted George Orwell’s books 1984 and Animal Farm from users’ Kindles due to rights issues. The complete stories [more]

Back in the USA

First let me say that this is somewhat stream of “thoughts” rather than a more formallized blog as I landed literally 90 minutes ago after 13 hours on a plane. I will come back and create more entries from these snippets. I left the hotel at 10:00PM Dubai Time, which is 2:00PM EDT. I then [more]

Berry in Dubai… Yup when one goes around the corporate IT and talks with people, they can get your Blackberry working in mere moments. Why I could not get through to anyone when I called… well they also changed that. Gotta love when someone just says I will take care of  it, and does. Even [more]

I am starting this entry offline while I am over the Persian Gulf in seat 21A. (I wonder what NSA searches will find my blog now.) The numbers being displayed by the inflight information are changing as I write this entry, so math might not work. The angst I had about the iPod lasting for [more]

Charging Options - Resolved

For those of you faithful readers, yesterday’s post was about picking the proper type of battery. Today I have a decision. Completely for a reason I did not consider, the Griffin TuneJuice is the winner. Physical packaging wins. The Kensington Rechargeable has the connector molded directly onto the unit. So playing my Nano on it [more]
